The day started at 8.45am and began with the Flamingo's which couldn't of kicked the day off any better, the younger one bounded over looking for attention which he got and we became friends straight away. How could the day get better i thought. We moved on to other areas around the Zoo, different enclosures and getting real insight to what this amazing place achieves with its conservation of endangered animals. The Aquarium was awesome and getting the chance to feed and touch the Sting-rays helped to make the day even more special for me. My keeper for the day was Karen and straight away she made me feel right at home, her knowledge and enthusiasm for the Zoo and the animals was really inspiring. A long day and one I won't forget, I'm even thinking of volunteering. This is a MUST experience and I will definitely be recommending it where ever i can.
Very enjoyable. Great hands on experience. I was able to feed the animals and it was lovely to be so close to and even touch some. Great variety of exhibits from reptiles to mammals. All the zoo keepers were very friendly, passionate and knowledgable about the animals they cared for.

Bristol Zoo is home to seals, penguins, lions, gorillas, lions, meerkats, monkeys, reptiles, cute furry mammals, big fat hippos and the list goes on! What a fantastic place to do your Zoo Keeper For A Day experience!
Your hosts will organise your day so that you visit all four areas of the zoo, the Mammals, Birds, Ectotherms (the bugs, fish, reptiles, butterflies, etc – did you know that an ectotherm is an animal that is dependent on external sources for body heat?) & the Presentations area (which is where the seals and penguins are housed). And you will not just be viewing these parts of the zoo as an ordinary zoo visitor but will be getting your hands dirty and getting in behind the scenes.
There will be cleaning, feeding and animal enrichment activities to prepare and not to worry lunch at the onsite Coral Restaurant is included so there will be down time as well. Gorillas and monkeys are often a favourite with guest zoo keepers as you get a chance to really see their often human like behaviour up close, and also penguin feeding is a big hit, they are just so cute as they waddle about, even if a bit smelly!
To pleasantly conclude such an amazing day you will also be presented with some souvenirs of your experience, a specially designed fleece, guidebook and don’t forget this experience comes with a complimentary zoo entry ticket for any guest that you might want to bring along. This is a wonderful day out, an ideal gift for any animal enthusiast, or bucket list item to tick off. A one in a lifetime experience, and an unforgettable day at the zoo!
