What to expect on your Sea Park Keeper Day

If sea creatures are your thing you are going to love this zoo keeper, or should we say sea park keeper experience! Sea Life Brighton is a fantastic place to learn more about our ocean friends and on this keeper experience as you become one of the team you get to go behind the scenes and really learn a lot more about all sorts of marine life.
The park is home to a wide array of creatures that call the water home such as turtles, sharks, octopi, rays, seahorses, starfish, crabs, and even some of the more exotic species such as voracious piranhas and poisonous dart frogs! It is the oldest operating aquarium in the world, and the beautiful Victorian architecture reflects this. There is an underwater walk which allows you to come face to face with the resident fish, sharks & more, a rockpool where you can actually touch some of your favourite sea creatures, and the park is also home to the UK’s first ever glass bottom boat! So , yes one of the brilliant things about a keeper experience like this is that you get a back stage pass to all of this and more.
On the actual day, you will start off being met by one of the SEA LIFE team who will explain to you exactly what keeper type tasks you will be doing on the day. Some of the activities that you will undertake will be assisting in feeding the animals, preparing the food for them, and performing general animal care tasks such as checking that water temperatures are perfect for the inhabitants, all of which are great hands on ways to learn more about the fish, reptiles and amphibians that you will meet up close and personal on the day. All of these things will keep you busy and engaged for the whole of your experience. We wouldn’t be surprised if you are exhausted at the end of the day, and when you get home fall asleep dreaming of underwater seascapes and the wondrous but slightly lesser known world of nature that lives in the deep.
About the Zoo
SEA LIFE Brighton is one of 50 aquariums in the world’s largest aquarium brand, SEA LIFE. This particular sea park also holds the prestigious title of being the world’s oldest operating aquarium and the first in the UK to offer a glass bottom boat experience at its venue.
Walk into SEA LIFE Brighton and you walk into a wonderous underwater world with an interactive rock pool where you get to actually touch & hold some sea creatures, an underwater tunnel where sea life swim overhead and all around for your viewing pleasure and educational & conservation information galore providing you with a better understanding about all of the inhabitants be they reptiles, amphibians, fish or sharks. Also visitors not only get to see marine life at play but the park also has freshwater landscapes and creatures from river systems, for example they even have a real life anaconda, the biggest snake in the world. It’s simply a great day out for the family!
Where It’s At
SEA LIFE Brighton can be reached by car, train or bus and is wheel chair accessible.
It is on the Brighton sea front so if coming by car, head for the the sea side of town and then follow the brown tourist signs, the aquarium is right next door to the Brighton Pier. If coming by train, from Brighton station simply walk down Queen’s Road towards the sea and turn left. If arriving by bus catch any bus into Brighton town centre and then simply head towards the sea.
